The Utah Procurement Code provides that a procurement may be made without competition when the University determines that there is only one source that can reasonably meet the University’s need for the required supply or service, as described in Utah Code Ann. § 63G-6a-802.

The Purchasing Department has received the following request for sole source procurement

Product and/or Service to be purchased: Pharmacy Staffing Software

Sole Source Supplier: StaffReady

Earliest Proposed Purchase Date: March 25, 2024

Buyer Name: Katherine Coons

Sole Source Justification:

UUH Originally implemented this software in January 2016. Staffready's software was sold by Wolters Kluwer in 2021.

Staffready provides the pharmacy department with standardized custom scheduling across all of the university hospital clinics and outpatient areas. We are able to integrate skill sets on an individual level that then places appropriate personnel in the areas they are suited for. We are able to generate automatic schedules based on rules and rotations that we have incorporated. We have tailored this platform to create individual schedules for each department but are also able to share those employees throughout different locations. Schedules are available in real time. Any schedule changes alert the individual’s email. We are also able to manage shift trade request and well as leave requests through the customized platform. The system comes with white glove service included for any revisions or additional builds we need to make the staffing platform and staffing model more efficient.

To transition to a new Pharmacy scheduling software at this time would cost UUH a minimum of $119,287.40. This dollar value is made up of training costs for pharmacists and technicians, IT build time, and individual build time within our 11 locations. Therefore, at this time it is too cost prohibitive to transition to a new software.

This sole source will be valid until March 31, 2026 and will exceed $50,000.
