The Utah Procurement Code provides that a procurement may be made without competition when the University determines that there is only one source that can reasonably meet the University’s need for the required supply or service, as described in Utah Code Ann. § 63G-6a-802.

The Purchasing Department has received the following request for sole source procurement

Product and/or Service to be purchased: Fusion Recreation Management Software

Sole Source Supplier: Innosoft Canada, Inc.

Earliest Proposed Purchase Date: March 27, 2024

Buyer Name: Matt Cooney

Sole Source Justification:

Campus Recreation Services (CRS) has been using Fusion software for ten years to maintain memberships, complete sales and event registrations, do event scheduling and program scheduling, and make facility reservations. Within Membership Services, Outdoor Adventures, and Gear Central, this software integrates with UCard readers and barcode scanners and provides electronic gate access to the ESLC. It is integrated with other University software, including CIS/PeopleSoft to download and sort all students, faculty, and staff member data into established membership categories to determine ESLC access. Compatible equipment includes barcode printers, 5 iPads for electronic waiver and agreement forms, and multiple card readers. Due to the number of integrations with other software, compatibility with existing equipment and the amount of employee training needed, it would be cost prohibitive to transition to a new recreation management software.

This sole source will be valid for 5 years and will exceed $50,000.
