The Utah Procurement Code provides that a procurement may be made without competition when the University determines that there is only one source that can reasonably meet the University’s need for the required supply or service, as described in Utah Code Ann. § 63G-6a-802.

The Purchasing Department has received the following request for sole source procurement

Product and/or Service to be purchased: Fabric Enterprise SaaS System

Sole Source Supplier: Fabric Genomics

Earliest Proposed Purchase Date: April 26, 2024

Buyer Name: Matt Cooney

Sole Source Justification:

After conducting a bid process for a genome analysis software platform in 2019, the University has been using a software from Fabric Genomics for all genomics initiatives. The platform is capable of prioritizing disease variants and provides methods to assess and prioritize the aggregate burden of pathogenic variants on genes across the genome in the context of specific phenotypes. It is also used to manage the return of incidental findings workflows from multi-gene panels, exomes, or whole genome sequencing. It is critical that this same software continues to be used for all new research projects in order to ensure consistent analysis and correct results. Therefore, for compatibility purposes, it is not possible to transition to a different genome analysis platform.

This sole source will be valid for 3 years.
